Starting With Curiosity
Okay so yesterday’s Real Sociedad vs Celta Vigo game was buzzing online. Saw tons of fans yelling about it on my usual spots. Figured, why not dig into what they actually say? Grabbed my old notebook – the one with coffee stains on page 3 – and got ready to scroll.
Diving Into the Noise
First thing, went straight to the main fan forums around lunch break. Man, everyone talks over each other! Sociedad folks were mostly screaming about Barrenetxea’s miss early on. Like actual caps lock rage. One guy wrote:
- “MY GRANDMA WOULD HAVE SCORED THAT! OPEN NET!!”
Celta supporters? Man, total depression vibe. Scrolled for ages. Almost every post started with “Same old story…” or “Another week wasted”. Felt heavy just reading it. Used a blue pen for Celta notes, red for Sociedad – helped later.
Spotting the Patterns
Kept refreshing after dinner. Tried looking at Twitter hashtags this time. Big mistake. Way too messy. Spent like an hour untangling who was a troll and who meant it. Noticed something though – fans ignored stats completely! Possession numbers mattered zero. Everyone cared about who ran the hardest and who looked like they wanted it. Aspilicueta got shouts for literally throwing himself at everything.
Then got sidetracked by stupid drama. Some guy kept arguing Vinicius should be loaned to Celta? How random is that? Skipped that whole section. Wasted 20 minutes. Lesson: ignore wild takes.
Putting it Together (Almost Failed)
Around midnight, had pages scribbled full. Time to make sense of it. Spread the notebook on my kitchen table. Cat jumped up right then – knocked my coffee everywhere! Freaked out grabbing paper towels. Almost lost half the notes. Managed to save them, mostly. Coffee stain added to page 3 collection. Made another coffee. Slower this time.
Sorted everything into piles:
- Sociedad Happy: Defense solid, Merino classy.
- Sociedad Mad: Finishing sucked. Barrenetxea roasted constantly.
- Celta Sad: Too passive. No cutting edge. Goalkeeper saved them honestly.
- Cleta Hopeful (Few!): Young guys didn’t totally drown?
Big surprise? Fans called the 0-0 draw way before half-time! Said it felt inevitable. Nobody expected fireworks. Both fanbases kind of accepted it? Just annoyed in different ways.
Why Bother?
Honestly? Got totally sucked into their anger and sadness. Forgot this was just practice! Wrote it all down raw though. Feels weird reading it back. Real fans don’t care about “balance” – they want to yell when mad or cry when gutted. That’s what came through loudest. Guess stats lie but feelings scream. Next time maybe track during the match. Less scrolling = less eye strain.
