Why I started tracking Barcelona SC every day
See, I’ve been a huge Barcelona SC fan since I was like 12 years old. Back then, checking standings meant waiting for tomorrow’s newspaper or catching the sports segment on TV at 11 PM. Total pain in the ass.
Last month I got pissed when my buddy Carlos knew the league position before me during our Wednesday beers. That’s when I decided – screw this, I’m making a daily routine to always know where we stand.
How my daily check actually works
First thing after breakfast, I grab my phone – always before coffee or I’ll forget. I use three sources:
- The official league app
- Twitter notifications from Barça fan accounts
- This one Ecuadorian sports site that updates fastest
Yesterday was wild though – got totally screwed when two sources showed different standings. One had us in 4th, another in 5th. Panicked and refreshed like twenty times until they matched. Turns out the table updates slowly across platforms.
Today’s messy process
Woke up late because my cat knocked over the alarm clock. Scrambled to check while brushing teeth – toothpaste all over the screen. Realized today was matchday so standings would be shifting all damn day.
Checked again after lunch:
- Position: 3rd (thank god we moved up)
- Played: 18 matches
- Won: 10
- Drawn: 4
- Points: 34
Almost cried when I saw Emelec just two points behind us. Screamed “oh come ON!” so loud my neighbor banged on the wall.
Why this matters to me
Remember 2018 relegation scare? Exactly. Now I track like a hawk because every point matters. Plus my dumbass cousin Miguel supports Liga de Quito – gotta shut him up when we’re above them.
Started doing this daily update for myself, but now I post screenshots to our fan WhatsApp group. Everyone expects it – pressure’s on. Still forget sometimes when work gets nuts, then get twenty “???” messages by 10 AM.
Honestly? This ritual made me realize how crazy Ecuadorian league is. Tables flip faster than my ex’s mood. Gotta stay on top or you’re instantly lost. Might be obsessive, but hey – that’s football love right?
