Alright so here’s how I tackled checking the Getafe vs Betis lineups earlier. Woke up thinking it’d be simple. Boy, was I wrong.
Where I Started
First, I grabbed my phone around lunchtime. Figured I’d just pop into one app to see who’s starting. Opened this one football app I always use. Scrolled… nothing. Refreshed five times. Still blank. Annoying.
Then I thought, “Fine, maybe their Twitter has it.” Jumped over. Saw a million tweets about lineups dropping “soon.” Useless. One fan account said Betis were sticking with Fekir, another said Rodri was starting. Total mess.
The Slogging Part
Next move: opened four apps at once. Put the tablet on my left, phone on my right, laptop propped up. Felt like some tech wizard meme honestly. Checked:
- App 1: No Getafe lineup posted yet
- App 2: Listed three defenders for Betis (impossible)
- App 3: Had Borja Iglesias starting (he’s injured!)
- App 4: Just said “Expected lineup soon”
My coffee got cold doing this. Took twenty minutes just to realize half these sites are guessing.
How It Finally Happened
Then I remembered official club sites exist. Duh. Went straight to Getafe’s page. Nothing. Betis? Nothing. They were teasing fans with warm-up videos. Typical. Had to sit there hitting refresh like it was 2005. Fingers getting tired.
Suddenly, Betis’s page updated. Saw Fekir AND Rodri listed? Had to rub my eyes. Checked three more tabs. Nope, they both started. Grabbed my notes app fast. Started typing names:
- For Betis: Silva, Rodriguez, Pezzella, Ruibal, Fekir…
- For Getafe: Alena, Greenwood, Mayoral…
My brain was melting from all the different websites. Ended up opening a Google Doc just to copy-paste. By the time both lineups were finally consistent everywhere? Game had already kicked off. Felt like such a clown.
Why It’s Such A Circus
Truth is, lineup sources are all over the place because:
- Teams delay announcing till last minute
- Apps scrape wrong info from each other
- Fan accounts pretend they have “insiders”
My kitchen table looked like mission control today. All this just to see if Greenwood started. Got my answer eventually… while hearing cheers from the stadium next door from my open window. Classic timing.
