Recent news has suggested that Premier League sides Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in Real Madrid player Rodrigo. However, Real Madrid’s new coach Javi Alonso has said that he wants to keep the Brazilian winger at Real Madrid.
Rodrigo has been an important part of the team since he joined Real Madrid in 2019.He has played 267 games for Real Madrid, including 51 appearances this season alone. He has been one of the most consistent performers on the wing in Europe over the past few years. Now although he is still young, only 24 years old, he has already made a name for himself in the football world.
According to some media reports, Rodrigo could leave Real Madrid in the summer of 2025.This could be due to an expiring contract or a change in transfer plans. However, the current new coach of Real Madrid, Alonso, does not want to release him.He said, “Rodrigo is a Real Madrid man and we need him badly.” This statement clearly expresses his attitude towards keeping the player.
When it comes to why Arsenal and Chelsea would be interested in Rodrigo, it’s not really hard to understand. Both teams are looking to improve their offense for next season.
Let’s start with Arsenal. They have finished second in the Premier League for three consecutive years, but have not been able to win a trophy. The team’s manager Mikel Arteta is looking to bring in stronger attacking players this summer to help the team make a breakthrough.Aside from Rodrigo, they are said to be looking at Eintracht Frankfurt’s Shin Kaoru Mito and Brentford’s Brian Mbemo.

Then look at Chelsea. They got back into the Champions League last season, which has made the club even more ambitious. They are also looking to sign high-level players in the summer transfer market and Rodrigo is one of their targets.
However, while both Premier League clubs are interested in bringing in Rodrigo, Real Madrid have no intention of releasing him easily.Especially with the departure of veteran manager Carlo Ancelotti from Real Madrid to coach the Brazilian national team, the club is in for a fresh start.Javi Alonso, as the new manager, has played for Real Madrid and Liverpool and is looking to lead the team forward in his own way.
It is worth noting that in Carlo Ancelotti’s last season in charge of Real Madrid, the team did not perform well. They lost to Barcelona in La Liga, and also lost to Barcelona in both the Spanish Super Cup and Copa del Rey finals. And in the Champions League quarterfinals, they were knocked out by Arsenal again.
So, for Real Madrid, it makes sense to change the manager at the end of this season.Alonso, as the new coach, wants to bring in new changes for the new season, and keeping experienced players like Rodrigo is obviously part of his plan.
Overall, although Rodrigo has attracted attention from several giants, it seems very likely that he will remain at Real Madrid for now. After all, neither the player himself, the club, nor the new coaching staff are too willing to let go at this point.
