Davide Ancelotti may have to lead the team himself

Posted on 13/05/202530/07/2025 By chicharito

There’s a saying: “When you leave, I’ll slowly learn to do things on my own. That’s an apt quote for Carlo Ancelotti’s son Davide. When his father decided to leave Real Madrid to take charge of the Brazilian national team, Serie A minnows Como immediately contacted Davide to hire him as their manager.

It’s been a hectic time of coaching changes in European soccer lately. For example, Xavi Alonso left Leverkusen in Germany to join Real Madrid, and Carlo Ancelotti also changed owners. When these news came out, many people were wondering what other big moves would come next.

Davide Ancelotti may have to lead the team himself

It looks like the good stuff is yet to come. After Xavi Alonso left Leverkusen, the club will definitely have to find someone to replace him. The most likely candidate at the moment is Cesc Fabregas. In fact, they have already met in a hotel in Como, Italy.

Fabregas said in an interview, “I want to leave something memorable. Whoever takes my place, I want it to be a good place with good players and a positive working atmosphere. That’s why I’m thinking about leaving Como. He added that everything will be made official when the time comes.

If Fabregas does leave Como, it will have some implications for Real Madrid as well. It is said that Como are already looking for a suitable replacement and are even considering two players from Real Madrid. But from what we’ve heard so far, the most likely candidate to take over at Como is Davide Ancelotti.

This is also in line with Davide’s own thoughts. He’s been working as an assistant coach with his father for the past 12 years and has worked with Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Napoli and Everton. Now he wants to start his coaching career and Serie A is a good place to start.

Apart from Davide, another name has also been mentioned – Alvaro Arbeloa, a former Real Madrid player who now also works with the Real Madrid youth team. The club is said to be preparing a short presentation for him.

On the other hand, neither Arbeloa nor Cesc Fabregas have much experience in first team management. But perhaps that doesn’t matter. At Como, whoever takes over as manager will have more experienced assistants behind him.

All in all, this personnel change is not only interesting for the fans, but also for the coaching community as a whole. We’re likely to see more news like this in the coming months.
