Let me walk you through how I actually signed up for Hub Sports Center last week. Felt like sharing since people keep asking me about gyms around here.
First, I had to check it out myself
Got curious after seeing their huge new building downtown on Monday evening. Walked right up and pressed my face against the glass like a weirdo. Saw folks lifting weights and swimming, looked clean and spacious. Decided I needed to join this place.
Went home, opened my laptop, searched for Hub Sports Center. Their homepage looked modern enough. Scrolled down searching for that all-important “Join Now” button like a madman. Found it halfway down the page, small orange button almost hidden.
The actual signup steps
Clicked the button and got thrown straight into this long form. Felt like applying for a mortgage honestly. Had to type:
- My full legal name (why they need my middle name?)
- Email address – twice because they made me confirm it
- Phone number
- Home address down to the zip code
- Emergency contact stuff – seriously? Just trying to lift some weights here
Then came the payment part. Almost got stuck here. They asked for my credit card before even showing me the plans. That kinda ticked me off. Typed half my card digits before noticing the “View Plans” link in tiny grey letters below.
Choosing between gym plans
Finally saw their pricing. Three options popped up:
- Basic Gym: $40/month. Only weights & cardio machines
- Gym + Pool: $60/month. Adds swimming & steam room
- All Access: $85/month. Includes classes & basketball courts
Stared at prices feeling conflicted. Ended up picking the middle option. Honestly? Mostly wanted to use that pool.
Went back to payment page, punched in card details again. Their system froze when I clicked Submit. Sat there sweating for two minutes seeing that spinning circle. Almost slammed my laptop shut. Then suddenly got the green “Success” page. Felt like winning lottery.
The weird after-stuff
Got six confirmation emails. SIX. About five minutes after signing up. Seriously Hub? One would’ve been plenty.
Next morning they called to schedule my “orientation tour.” Nice guy named Jamal set me up for Friday.
Went in yesterday morning. Jamal showed me every single locker, water fountain, and stationary bike. Took forever but actually felt worth it afterward. He even gave me a free towel.
Now I go every morning before work. Still figuring out the locker room keys though. Those little wristbands keep falling off when I shower. But otherwise? Pretty happy I joined.
